WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. -- A Dayton, Ohio, man has been charged after he reportedly distributed drugs in Wayne County while he was out on bond in a separate drug dealing case from earlier this year.
According to court documents filed on Thursday, 32-year-old Davonta "Hotboy" Chatman was taken into custody on one count of dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 2 felony, and one count of dealing in cocaine, a Level 2 felony.
Last month, officials with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that they launched an investigation into "suspected drug distribution" on Richmond's south side.
This led investigators to search a home in the 700 block of South F Street on Monday. The release said that investigators reportedly located multiple ounces of fentanyl and cocaine and arrested a suspect, later identified as Chatman.
According to court documents, Chatman was out on bond as a result of a separate drug investigation in January 2025. Chatman, who had previously been charged with dealing in a narcotic drug and dealing in cocaine, was the subject of a search at a home in the 700 block of South Eighth Street in January where additional drugs were recovered.
In the two investigations, more than 160 grams of fentanyl and more than 90 grams of cocaine were seized, the release said. More than $12,000 in cash was also recovered.
"Our deputies are doing a great job getting dangerous drugs off the streets in Wayne County," Alan Moore, the chief deputy for the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, said the release. "This case is a strong example of what we can accomplish through persistent investigative work and the ongoing cooperation we have with other police agencies."
According to court documents filed Thursday, Chatman paid a $7,500 cash bond in relation to this most recent case. Chatman's initial hearing is scheduled for June 11.
Chatman's jury trial for his other drug dealing case continues to be scheduled for Aug. 5, according to court documents.
