Ohio man injured in shooting in Richmond

RICHMOND, Ind. - An Ohio man was injured in a shooting in Richmond Tuesday night.

According to a press release from the Richmond Police Department, officers were called to the 600 block of South 9th Street around 7:19 p.m. to investigate a shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they located a 30-year-old Ohio man with multiple apparent gunshot wounds.

The man was transported from the scene to Reid Hospital, where he was stabilized and then transferred to Miami Valley Health for further treatment.

Police do not believe the shooting poses any ongoing threat to the public. RPD indicated that the victim has not been cooperative with its investigation of the shooting.

Police are encouraging those with additional information on the shooting to contact Detective Amanda Thackrey at (765) 983-7314.

"It is frustrating when those directly impacted by violent crime choose not to cooperate
with investigators," RPD Chief Kyle Weatherly wrote in a prepared statement. "Every act of violence in our city affects not only the victim but the safety of the entire community. The Richmond Police Department remains committed to pursuing the truth and holding offenders accountable, but we cannot do it alone. We urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward - your cooperation could prevent future violence and save lives."
