INDIANAPOLIS - An incident closed part of interstate I-70 in Marion County on Monday.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, two right lanes of eastbound lanes of I-70 were closed near mile marker 85.5 east of downtown.
INDOT's alert indicated the incident involved a fatality. Indiana State Police, however, couldn't immediately confirm that information, saying only that they had an "active investigation in the area."
An emergency run from the Indianapolis Fire Department showed a dispatched run for a gunshot in the vicinity. A subsequent TrafficWise alert from INDOT indicated a medical emergency closed part of the interstate.
"I-70 Eastbound east of Rural/Keystone, right two lanes will be closed for an extended period due to police investigation," ISP Sgt. John Perrine wrote on social media. "Please seek alternate routes."
