Person injured, multiple buildings and vehicles damaged during Richmond shooting

RICHMOND, Ind. - A person was injured and multiple buildings and cars were damaged during a shooting in Richmond on Saturday.

According to a Facebook post from the Richmond Police Department, officers were called to the 3000 block of Cart Road around 3 a.m. to investigate a reported shooting.

When police arrived at the scene, they located a person suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds. RPD reported that the victim was transported from the scene to Reid Health in Richmond before later being taken to a different medical facility via helicopter. Police confirmed that the victim was in stable condition when they were transported to the hospital.

RPD investigators believe more than 50 people were present in the area when the shooting occurred. Despite the number of people in the area at the time of the shooting, police indicated that nobody has been willing to speak with them about the incident.

Investigators are still encouraging those with information on the shooting to contact RPD at (765) 983-7247.

"Silence protects no one," RPD Chief Kyle Weatherly wrote in a prepared statement. "When bullets fly into homes and cars, it endangers loved ones who have nothing to do with the dispute. Choosing not to come forward allows violence to continue unchecked. If you care about your community, now is the time to speak up."
