INDIANAPOLIS -- A person died after an early Wednesday morning shooting on the east side of Indianapolis.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers received a report of a person shot in the 100 block of S. Gladstone Ave. around 3:30 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found a male with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries. At this time, police don't know whether the male was an adult or a juvenile.
Two potential witnesses told officers that the incident started with individuals trying to gain control over a gun.
"What I can say is it's 3:30 in the morning," said Capt. John Arvin with IMPD. "We probably need to be a little more constructive with our time and maybe think a little bit instead of getting into arguments over who knows what that can lead to a serious incident."
IMPD said a vehicle was seen leaving the scene, and officers were canvassing the area for surveillance footage of a possible suspect and vehicle.
The shooting remains under investigation.
