
INDIANAPOLIS - An 18-year-old suspect faces multiple charges in connection with a shooting along the Canal Walk that left three people injured.
Anthony Ford, 18, is charged with two counts of aggravated battery (Level 3 felony), a count of battery with a deadly weapon (Level 5 felony) and dangerous possession of a firearm (Level 5 felony).
On Saturday, June 21, 2025, officers were dispatched to the Canal Walk between W. Michigan and Walnut streets for a shots fired call.
Upon arrival, police found three people shot in the vicinity and also noticed damage to nearby buildings. They arrested one person that night for unlawful carrying of a handgun.
Detectives spent hours talking to witnesses and looking at surveillance footage. They eventually identified Ford as the suspect and got a warrant for his arrest.
Violent Crime Unit (VCU) detectives caught Ford on the city's west side on Monday. At the time, he was in possession of various amounts of multiple drugs, including meth, ecstasy, crack cocaine and marijuana, police said.
Ford will likely face additional charges in connection with the narcotics, according to IMPD.
