Police investigating double homicide in Owen County

OWEN COUNTY, Ind. - Police are investigating a double homicide in Owen County.




Indiana State Police have confirmed that law enforcement received a report of a shooting that happened at a residence located north of Spencer on Saturday afternoon. As police began investigating the shooting report, they located two deceased individuals who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds in the residence's driveway.




FOX59/CBS4 located a large police presence in the 1500 block of Trusdel Road in Owen County Saturday night.

Owen County Sheriff's deputies and ISP are working the case. ISP has reported that a person of interest implicated in the shooting turned themself in to Morgan County Sheriff's deputies.




In a Facebook post, the Martinsville Police Department reported that a juvenile male entered the Morgan County Sheriff's Office around 4 p.m. and told police there was a criminal incident that occurred in Owen County. MPD later identified and detained the boy.




As of 8:24 p.m., MPD had not explicitly confirmed that the juvenile its officers detained was involved in the shooting in Owen County. MPD has indicated that it is assisting the Owen County Sheriff's Office with its investigation.




As of this article's publication, no additional information on the incident had been made available. ISP and the Owen County Sheriff's Office are expected to provide an update on the shooting at 9 p.m.
