DECATUR COUNTY, Ind. - Police shot and killed a suspect during a traffic stop in Decatur County on Wednesday.
According to the agency tasked with investigating the shooting, Indiana State Police, members of the Decatur County Sheriff's Office and Greensburg Police Department initiated the traffic stop on County Road 300 East around 2:30 p.m. ISP indicated that law enforcement was attempting to stop the suspect because they had been involved in an "incident" in a neighboring county Tuesday night.
Per ISP, a warrant had been issued for the suspect's arrest, and preliminary information given to law enforcement indicated the subject was armed. Police were later able to confirm that the subject was, indeed, armed when the shooting occurred.
During the traffic stop, three law enforcement officers discharged their weapons. That gunfire struck the suspect.
ISP confirmed that the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. No law enforcement officers were injured during the shooting.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
