Purdue's 'Boilermaker Special' train involved in deadly crash on US 52

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. - Purdue University's train - the "Boilermaker Special" - was reportedly involved in a deadly crash on US 52.
Local police officials said the crash involved the train and a passenger car, according to our news partner WLFI. One person in the car reportedly died, while two people on board the train were taken to a local hospital.
According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred Thursday afternoon on US Highway 52 South near the intersection of Wyandotte Road. The crash site is about 11 miles southeast of Purdue University's campus in West Lafayette.
According to INDOT, all lanes of the area are closed for an "unknown duration" due to a "fatal crash." The Indiana State Police and local Sheriff's Office are now investigating.
