RICHMOND, Ind. - A Richmond man was arrested on a child molestation charge last week.
In a Facebook post, the Richmond Police Department confirmed that its officers arrested 32-year-old Damon Jackson II on Friday. A warrant was issued for his arrest after an investigation RPD described as "intensive."
The preliminary child molestation charge Jackson faces is a Level 1 Felony. The maximum penalty for a Level 1 Felony in Indiana is a 40-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.
"When it comes to protecting children, there is no room for hesitation," RPD Chief Kyle Weatherly wrote in a prepared statement. "This department will pursue every lead, every time to bring offenders to justice."
As of this article's publication, little additional information on Jackson's case had been made available.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
