Black Coast Release New Track "Drown Out"

Black Coast Release New Track "Drown Out"

Stoke-on-Trent, UK's Black Coast have today released their poignant new single "Drown Out" and the official music video (via Papercut Recordings). The stripped-down, acoustic-driven ballad uncovers a new facet of the grunge-nu-metalcore quintet, blending raw vocals with crystal-clear production. When asked about the inspiration behind the track, guitarist Scott Pinnington shared:
"I wrote this song musically and I explained to our singer Charlie about how I was feeling at the time. I've suffered with an eating disorder all my life, and last year I hit rock bottom with it. I didn't want to be here anymore, and felt like I was losing my life being succumbed by the anxiety and depression of living with it. Drowning out the white noise and being in a different state of mind was what I constantly tried to do...to take myself out of my mind. I hope that this song resonates with those who may find themselves either in similar shoes, or understand that state of mind or being, and understand they're not alone."
ABOUT BLACK COAST
Black Coast are a Grunge / Nu-Metalcore band from Stoke-on-Trent, England. Formed in January 2016 by guitarists Scott Pinnington and Joe Mayer, the lineup was completed by Jack Beardsall (bass), Matty Clark (drums), and Charlie Hewitt (vocals).
After nine years of growth and touring the globe together, Joe Mayer played his final show with the band on 20th December 2025 at a sold-out hometown headline show at The Underground. Two days later, Black Coast announced the permanent addition of Alex Huzar (Forager, Orion), who had previously joined the band as a touring guitarist on the Silly Goose UK headline run.
Rooted in hardcore grooves from the outset, Black Coast have always worn their love of 90s grunge on their sleeves. Over time, their sound has evolved into a heavier, sharper, and more refined force by balancing raw aggression with melody and atmosphere. Lyrically, the band connect deeply with audiences through themes of personal struggle, introspection, mental health, and the challenge of navigating emotional barriers in a relentlessly paced world.
Black Coast released their debut album Outworld on 19th November 2021, with Sam Bloor at Lower Lane Studios helming the recording and production. The record marked a clear turning point from the band's roots: broader dynamics, increased confidence in blending melody with heaviness, and their most personal songwriting to date.
In April 2023, the band self-released their self-titled EP, once again working with Bloor on production duties. Tracks such as "Chains" and "Mercy" built upon the foundations of Outworld, yet showcased further growth in both production quality, songwriting maturity and emotional depth.
More recently, Black Coast have continued to release new material with Bloor, including "Hopeless" and "Without You", expanding lyrically on recurring themes of internal pressure, mental health, overstimulation, and the pursuit of authentic self-expression. The band are currently writing and recording their sophomore full-length release, the follow-up to Outworld.
Black Coast's identity centres on heavy, groove-driven riffs, aggressive vocals offset by melodic hooks, and immersive atmospheric textures. Across their catalogue, their songwriting charts a clear emotional evolution, while staying grounded in the formative influences that continue to drive them, including Alice in Chains, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, and Pantera.
Renowned for their raw energy and emotional intensity on stage, Black Coast's live shows prioritise connection, honesty, and catharsis. Seasoned, resilient, and continually evolving, the band show no signs of slowing down.
