Jay Weinberg Breaks Silence on Slipknot Exit, Calls Himself "Maybe A Scapegoat"

Former Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has opened up about his 2023 departure from the metal band after a decade-long tenure. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Weinberg suggested he "maybe became a scapegoat" when the band made what they called a "creative decision" to remove him. The 33-year-old musician, son of E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, dedicated ten years to Slipknot before his unexpected exit. Since leaving, Weinberg has toured with Suicidal Tendencies, recorded with Fuming Mouth, and launched new band Portraits of an Apparition. He's also partnering with Reverb to sell gear from his past, including drum kits used with both the E Street Band and Slipknot. Weinberg began his career at 18, filling in for his father on Bruce Springsteen's European stadium tour. He and his wife are expecting their first child, prompting him to build a home studio in Nashville.
