Discover Seconds To Serenity's Powerful New Single "Dark Skies"

"Dark Skies" stands as one of the most personal and defiant moments on the record-a song born from the weight of being held hostage by your own past. At its core, the track confronts a painful truth: some people will only ever see you at your lowest, no matter how far you've climbed since.
The song's narrative is rooted in accountability and resilience. It begins with a voice admitting, "I know I've done wrong. I've owned it. I've learned from it, and I've changed." But the world doesn't always accept growth so easily. For many, it's simpler to keep someone cast in the role of villain-to turn them into the demon they can point to when they need a scapegoat, or a contrast to feel righteous beside. "Dark Skies" exposes that dynamic with unflinching honesty.
Rather than begging to be seen differently, the song pushes toward a bold acceptance: you can evolve and still be judged. You can be better and still be blamed. And if people insist on painting you as the monster, then let them-because their story doesn't have to define your path.
"Dark Skies" is ultimately an anthem of reclaimed power. It's about walking through the storm on your own terms, refusing to be anchored to who you were, and rejecting anyone who tries to keep you chained to a moment you've already outgrown. The message is clear and unapologetic: keep moving forward, even under dark skies, and let the ones who doubt your growth live with their own shadows.
Story Behind the New Album: "Nexus"
Nexus emerges as a raw and unflinching descent through the circles of human emotion-anger, grief, addiction, loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, and self-doubt-and the quiet internal collapse that often shadows them. While not a traditional concept album, Nexus is built on an intentional emotional continuity. Each song spills into the next, forming a tightly woven chain of cause and consequence, where no moment exists in isolation.
The project was born from the band's desire to confront the cycles we all return to throughout our lives. Pain breeds reflection; reflection sparks reform; reform inevitably loops back into new forms of pain. These cycles, though harsh, are universal-and Nexus embraces them rather than shying away.
Across the record, the band captures the paradox of the human condition: that falling apart is often the first step toward rebuilding, and that every emotion, no matter how destructive or fleeting, is connected to something larger. Nexus stands as their testament to that truth-proof that every rise and collapse, every relapse and recovery, every moment of clarity and confusion, all belong to the same unbroken chain that shapes us.
With its seamless transitions and emotionally cohesive arc, Nexus invites listeners not just to hear the music, but to inhabit the emotional landscape it maps. It is, at its core, an exploration of what it means to be human when everything feels interconnected, unavoidable, and profoundly real.
Biography:
Seconds To Serenity emerged in 2012 from the depths of Chicago's alternative metal scene, quickly distinguishing themselves with a sound that balances precision-crafted intensity and piercing emotional vulnerability. Their music bridges heaviness and heart-equal parts atmospheric and aggressive-drawing natural comparisons to Breaking Benjamin, Starset, Motionless in White, I Prevail, Alter Bridge, Sevendust, and Three Days Grace. From the beginning, their identity has been defined by contrast: light inside darkness, melody woven through fury, and lyrics that expose the raw nerves of the human experience.
The band's early years were marked by rapid creative fire. Their debut full-length, Scarlet (2013), and follow-up EP/demo Learn to Fly (2015) showcased a young group exploring their sonic boundaries with ambition and emotional depth. But just as their momentum accelerated, Seconds To Serenity slipped into silence-a nearly decade-long hiatus that left fans waiting, wondering, and hoping the story wasn't over.
In 2025, that silence shattered.
Founding frontman Jake LoGiudice (vocals/guitar) reignited the project with renewed purpose, expanding the lineup with Brian Benischek (guitar), Dana Goggin (bass), and Draven DC (drums). Together, they forged a sound reborn from isolation, matured through hardship, and sharpened by life's most unforgiving lessons. The new era of Seconds To Serenity is darker, heavier, more cinematic, and more emotionally charged than anything in their past-a transformation rather than a continuation.
Their rebirth began with the release of "Bloom", a haunting meditation on growth born from suffering. It was followed by "The Void", a visceral descent into loss, nihilism, and self-destruction. Their third single, "Without You", released August 7th, further solidified their resurgence, capturing the attention of both longtime listeners and new audiences across the modern alternative metal landscape. With each release, Seconds To Serenity built a sonic world defined by atmospheric tension, soaring hooks, crushing dynamics, and lyrics that cut with surgical honesty.
Now, the band prepares to deliver their most ambitious work yet: Nexus, a full-length conceptual experience arriving Halloween 2025. The album explores the cyclical nature of human emotion-anger, grief, addiction, trauma, reflection, and rebirth-woven into a seamless journey of cause and consequence. Nexus is not simply a return; it is a declaration of who Seconds To Serenity have become.
For fans drawn to the beauty within darkness, Seconds To Serenity offer something deeper than sound: a cathartic release, a shared reckoning, and a reminder that pain can be reshaped into power. Their music stands as a testament to endurance, evolution, and the transformative force of honest expression. Seconds To Serenity aren't just making a comeback-they are redefining themselves, and in the process, reshaping the next chapter of modern alternative metal.
