JUST IN: A tornado watch has been issued for a large portion of central Indiana until 11pm. Line of strong/severe storms gathering in Missouri just after 4pm will sweep quickly east. Storms with large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes are possible this evening.
Strong upper-level winds and a new "split" in the jet stream will aid in rapid increase in storms next few hours. Warm/unstable air will migrate north feeding these storms as they spread east and it will likely becoming an intense squall line.
While bright and sunny overhead at this hour (4pm) - this line surge east. Conditions will change rapidly. NOW is the time to review your SEVERE WEATHER safety plan. BE PREPARED this evening. It will rapidly improve before 9/10pm. There will be rough hours this evening.
