Severe storm threat returns today; all modes in play

Expect a very warm and muggy start this Wednesday morning, as the radar remains somewhat active and temperatures hover in the lower 70s. A sticky start, no doubt, but mainly dry for many statewide. A few pockets of fog could be in the mix at sunrise, along with a few isolated storms.

This afternoon will bring mixed sunshine, as temperatures heat up back into the middle 80s. Along with the added heat, winds will turn breezy from the southwest at 10-20 mph, with higher gusts around. Instability will rise, as a cold front approaches the state. This will be enough to get scattered, stronger storms to develop from west to east around 2 p.m. through the early evening. All modes are in play but damaging winds will be of the greatest concern/threat.

Storms and showers will linger into the overnight, as the severe threat weakens. Still expect muggy conditions, some fog and lows dropping into the upper 60s statewide.

Thursday will bring slightly less humid air, and a pullback in temperatures, as a wind shift gets underway from the northwest. Spotty showers will remain with coverage much, much lower throughout the day.

Friday brings a return to ample sunshine and a dry stretch gets underway for the state, as we mark the first day of summer (10:41 p.m.). Hotter days into the weekend, as we march towards our first 90° days of 2025!
