Anthrax Delays New Album To September, Announces First Single For May

Anthrax will release their first album in 10 years this September, drummer Charlie Benante confirmed to Australia's Everblack podcast. The thrash metal band originally planned a May release but pushed back the date. "We're putting out our first song and video in May. The record is not coming out till September," Benante stated. This marks the longest gap between Anthrax albums, surpassing the eight-year wait between 2003's We've Come for You All and 2011's Worship Music. Guitarist Scott Ian attributed the delay to COVID-19 disrupting their 2020 recording plans. Producer Jay Ruston returns after working on their previous two albums. The band teased new material during their recent Canadian tour with Megadeth and Exodus. Benante expressed excitement about the unrevealed album title, calling it "really, really good." Anthrax plans extensive touring including dates supporting Iron Maiden.
