Dee Snider Exits Twisted Sister Due To Health Issues, Causing Band To Cancel 50th Anniversary Tour

Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider has resigned from the heavy metal band, forcing the cancellation of their upcoming 50th anniversary tour. The 70-year-old singer suffers from degenerative arthritis and has undergone multiple surgeries to continue performing, only able to play "a few songs at a time in pain," according to a statement shared on Snider's personal Instagram on Friday (Feb. 6). Snider recently discovered his intense performing style has also damaged his heart. "I don't know of any other way to rock. The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me. I'd rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self," Snider said. The statement concluded by adding, "In the immortal words of Dirty Harry, 'A man's got to know his limitations.' Sadly, Dee Snider now knows his." Bandmates Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda called Snider's departure "sudden and unexpected," saying the band's future will be decided soon.
