Former Guns N' Roses Manager Sues Band Over Claims They Are Preventing Publication Of His Memoir

Former Guns N' Roses manager Alan Niven is suing the band over their efforts to block the publication of his memoir, Sound N' Fury: Rock N' Roll Stories. Niven is arguing that a confidentiality clause in an old buyout agreement - which the band claims the book violates - is void because not all band members, including Axl Rose, signed it. Niven alleges that Guns N' Roses members, including Slash, Duff McKagan, and Rose, have themselves breached the agreement by making inflammatory remarks about him, and that he was under severe distress when signing the buyout, which he claims was unfair. Despite prior encouragement from band members to write the book, the group sent a cease-and-desist to his publisher, delaying the memoir's release, which is now scheduled for 2026. Niven seeks a legal judgment declaring the agreement unenforceable and claims breach of contract and interference with contract.
