We know it ourselves: throwing around superlatives often sounds a bit fishy. Terms like "supergroup" or "ultimate" have been overused, but fear not: today, with LEX LEGION, we're introducing you to a band that truly deserves the title of supergroup!
LEX LEGION is a brand-new alliance of seasoned musicians whose roots are deeply embedded in the heavy metal scene. The band brings together four members of the classic King Diamond line-up from the late 1980s: drummer Mikkey Dee, guitarists Pete Blakk and Andy La Rocque, and bassist Hal Patino. The line-up is completed by singer Nils K. Rue from Pagan's Mind. And of course, we know that with these luminaries, the Mot rhead, Scorpions and Death bells are ringing in the heads of metal nerds!
The project is aimed at fans of oldschool hard rock and heavy metal, yet at the same time brings a fresh energy that is often unique to a debut release. The band members have decades of experience, but perform today with a relaxed attitude and a close bond of friendship that has grown over more than forty years. The best of both worlds, so to speak! You can now see for yourselves with the first radio single, "Sleep Eternally". The song serves as the opener to the debut album, due out in June, and hits you right from the first few seconds with a blood-curdling scream!
"Sleep Eternally" is a defiant declaration of intent that blends hard rock and metal with a clear focus. Like the rest of the album, the track features razor-sharp arrangements and catchy melodies. The music combines technical prowess with a powerful directness that instantly makes your head nod.
""Lex Legion" is totally written the way we thought in the '80s," said drummer Mikkey Dee (Mot rhead, King Diamond, Scorpions). "We wrote what we wanted, and if you liked it, that was a great bonus. If you didn't like it, that was fine with us, too!"
