Founded in 2020, WHITE SKIES are by no means newcomers. Singer Mick White
has been a fixture on the British melodic hard rock scene since the mid-1980s. In
addition to his involvement with the cult band SAMSON, with whom he supported
IRON MAIDEN on their "Somewhere in Time" tour and can be heard on the albums
"And There It Is" and "1988," he also sang with PAUL SAMSON'S EMPIRE and
FIRST STRIKE. Guitarist Ray Callcut has been gracing the albums of cult AOR band
YA YA with his playing since 1983. Keyboardist Pete Laikin comes from the melodic
rock bands DANTE FOX and DOUBLE CROSS. Drummer Daz Lamberton is a studio
ace on the British music scene who has worked with the British melodic kings TEN,
among others. The band is completed by bassist Rob Naylor from the NWOBHM
band SAM THUNDER. Despite this more than impressive past, WHITE SKIES do
not see themselves as a project, but as a real band, which has been reinforced by
countless live shows on the British Isles. Together they have created a sound that
puts melodic class above technical showmanship. So it came as no surprise that
their debut album "Black Tide," released in 2022, hit the melodic rock scene like a
bomb and made the band instant favorites.
The new WHITE SKIES album "Shouting At The Hurricane," produced by Mick,
Ray, and Pete, who was also responsible for mixing and mastering, is the band's
next logical step toward catapulting themselves to the top with a further refined
musical profile and a new label. The album breathes the spirit of classic Adult
Oriented Rock and confidently transports it into the here and now, without
sounding dusty or old-fashioned. It showcases not only the entire spectrum of
AOR, but also the very best this musical style has to offer. The songs captivate
with first-class, timeless songwriting and unique virtuosity, and with them the band
revives the golden era of melodic rock with substance and soul. The big choruses
and emotional melodies linger exactly where classic AOR belongs: in the heart.
"Shouting At The Hurricane" is the album for lovers of melodic rock and perfect
