Soggy end to work week in central Indiana; June outlook issued

The month opened dry but downpours arrive later tonight and more rain will fall entering the weekend






DRY TIME ENDING




Rain still on hold for most late day (Radar image below 4:40pm Wed). Coverage will rise steadily later tonight with downpours becoming most numerous around midnight.

Four days into June without rain but that changes to end the work week. With the high level of humidity (dew points mid/upper 60s) a few locally heavy downpours are possible overnight and may produce rainfall amounts of over one-inch. There will be more rainfall on Thursday and Friday but more likely at more limited coverage. Showers and t-showers are possible at any given point Thursday with at least a steady coverage of just over 30% through the day and well into the evening. Coverage and intensity will lower overnight into early Friday morning. Additional showers and thundershowers are possible Friday leading to LOCALLY some locations receiving 48 hour totals as much as 2.0" of rain.

COOLER TRENDS BEFORE WARMING




After three straight 80° days, cooler trends are on the horizon. Clouds and rain are in the forecast - will restrict temps to end the work week. A late spring "closed-low" dips south over the weekend. Temps will run 3° to 5° below normal to start next week before improving.

So what can we expect for the rest of the month? June is the wettest month annually and at this distance amounts could be near normal (4.95"). Temperatures take a warm turn before Father's Day weekend. Warmer than average temps take hold for much of the nation.
