It's an unsettled start for parts of the state, as heavy rain and storms since 10 pm last night, mainly south, are creating flash flooding issues! Several counties have received between 5" to 8" inches over the past several hours including parts of Monroe, Lawrence, Brown, Martin, Daviess and Jackson counties. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 8:15am. Spotty showers will be around for the morning rush hour, along some fog or haze, as storms begin to ease. Out-the-door temperatures are holding in the lower 70s.
This afternoon will be warm and sticky but no 90° heat is expected, although the heat indices will make it feel that way, ambient temperatures should reach the upper 80s. A passing shower or storm will remain too, under mostly cloudy skies with southwest winds at 6-12 mph. Still plenty of dry time in between.
Later tonight, a much needed, passing cold front will bring shower chances to an end for several days, along with a drop in humidity by Tuesday afternoon. Although still warm, great days to be enjoyed! Hotter days take hold on Thursday and for the holiday weekend, as 90s return with limited storm chances...
