WESTFIELD, Ind. - A stretch of State Road 32 near the U.S. 31 exit in Westfield will soon close for reconstruction and not open again until early October.
The Indiana Department of Transportation announced the closure will go into effect on Monday, April 7, as part of the 32 Connects project. State Road 32 will be closed from Poplar Street to Union Street. This section is just after the first roundabout for commuters exiting U.S. 31 at State Road 32 and heading east.
The highlighted blue route in the image above shows the local detour around the closed section of State Road 32.
The official through traffic detour routes traffic up U.S. 31 to State Road 38.
The 32 Connects project plans to improve safety and mobility on State Road 32 as Westfield continues to grow. The project has several steps that will continue throughout both 2025 and 2026 and includes creating a traffic circle at State Road 32 and East Street.
The project will also improve improved pedestrian facilities, crosswalks, signage, and landscaping throughout the corridor.
