INDIANAPOLIS - Police arrested an Indianapolis teacher and internationally known composer in connection with a child exploitation case.
Julian Wachner, 55, was booked into jail Wednesday on preliminary charges related to child exploitation and child pornography, according to online records.
An incident report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department showed the allegation that led to his arrest was reported on Aug. 11.
Wachner most recently worked as a fourth-grade math teacher for an Indianapolis charter school. He was listed on the school's website earlier Thursday morning before being removed.
Wachner is a notable composer and conductor who has recorded multiple albums and published dozens of works.
According to the New York Times, he was dismissed as music director of a church in 2022 over an allegation of sexual misconduct. He also lost his job at the Julliard School of Music.
Wachner sued for defamation, leading to the dismissal of the case.
