
TRAFALGAR, Ind. - Fire crews were called to a barn fire in Trafalgar Saturday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of "several" animals, the Trafalgar Fire Department reported on Sunday.
According to TFD, firefighters were dispatched around 4 p.m. to the 2800 block of 750 South on the report of a barn fire. They were also assisted by the Edinburgh Fire Department and the Amity Volunteer Fire Department.
TFD called the fire "labor intensive," as crews worked to empty 70-80 flaming bales of hay from the barn. No injuries were reported, though TFD said the following animals died from the fire:
- Five goats
- 22 chicks
- Five guineas
- Three rabbits
Per the department, the fire is believed to have been unintentionally caused by an electrical malfunction.
