Former Tigertailz drummer Ace Finchum Passes Away

Ace Finchum was one of the founding members of Tigertailz and a key part of the band''s two most iconic lineups. The first featured Finchum alongside vocalist Steevi Jaimz, bassist Pepsi Tate, and guitarist Jay Pepper, while the second lineup included Tate, Pepper, and frontman Kim Hooker. Finchum played with Tigertailz from 1984 to 1991, returning for a second stint between 2011 and 2013. During his time with the band, he performed on their first three studio albums - Young and Crazy (1987), Bezerk (1990), and Banzai! (1991) - records that helped define the glam metal era in the U.K.

In 2008, Finchum also briefly joined Gypsy Pistoleros, further expanding his rock r sum .

Tributes have poured in across social media from friends, bandmates, and fellow musicians remembering Finchum''s talent, humor, and generous spirit.

Steevi Jaimz (Tigertailz frontman, 1984-1988):
"I know many of you really cared for Ace, and I am so sorry to be the bearer of tragic, heartbreaking news... Sadly, Ace passed away at the weekend. Thoughts and prayers to Danny, Rob, Donna, and Scott."

Rob Wylde (Midnite City frontman, Tigertailz 2012-2022):
"Really shocked and saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Ace Finchum. I have Ace to thank for getting me into Tigertailz back in 2012 - that amazing opportunity lasted 10 years and would never have happened without him.
Ace and I were also roommates on tour. I affectionately called him ''Pappa Tailz,'' a name still saved in my phone. He was always my favorite member - a kind, funny, and genuine soul. We never lost touch, and I spoke to him just a few weeks ago. Such a sad, sad loss ?? Rest easy, Pappa Tailz."

Greg Hart (Cats In Space):
"So sad to hear about the passing of our buddy Ace Finchum. He was such a great guy and always kept in touch through MySpace and Facebook. His enthusiasm for our music meant the world. This is another reminder that we have to make our time count - get the car, buy the coat, take the trip, go see the gig. Don''t put things off - life''s too short.
RIP mate - my thoughts are with Steevi Jaimz, his family, and all who loved him."

Jay Pepper (Tigertailz):
"I''m devastated to hear that our original drummer, Ace Finchum, has passed away.
From the chaos of Young & Crazy to the fire of Bezerk, we lived those moments like our lives depended on it - and maybe they did. Those albums shaped the glam metal zeitgeist and who we were as people.
Ace was the heartbeat behind it all - wild, funny, unpredictable, and full of spirit. Those days, that laughter, that noise... they''ll stay with me forever."
