ABBA Notches First No. 1 On Billboard's Dance Chart In 50 Years With 'Gold: Greatest Hits'

ABBA's 1992 compilation, Gold: Greatest Hits, climbed to No. 1 on Billboard's Top Dance Albums chart dated January 17th, marking the legendary Swedish group's first ever chart-topper on the tally. The collection earned 15,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during the January 2-8 tracking week. ABBA's only previous dance chart success came in 1981 when "Lay All Your Love on Me"/"Super Trouper"/"On and On and On" spent one week atop the Dance Club Songs chart. The greatest hits album features signature tracks including "Dancing Queen," which became ABBA's first and only No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1977, alongside iconic tracks like "Mamma Mia" and "Take a Chance on Me." Gold: Greatest Hits has spent 411 total weeks on the Billboard 200, making it ABBA's longest-charting release by far, with the album currently sitting at No. 80 on the all-format chart.
