Tracking severe storms Friday, followed by a beautiful qualifying weekend

The cap held last night, leading to a muggy but quiet night. That most likely won't be the case tonight as another round of severe weather is expected this evening. The good news is that most of the day will remain rain-free with warm temperatures.
As you gear up and head out the door this morning, temperatures will be sitting in the upper 60s to lower 70s with some humidity. Mostly sunny skies will be expected throughout the day, which will help lead to the development of severe storms later this evening.
Severe Threat: The southern half of the state is sitting at level 4/5. There is a moderate risk for severe storms on Friday evening. Indianapolis is sitting in the level 3/5 enhanced risk for severe storms.
Impacts: All modes of severe weather will be on the table this evening. The primary threats for the storms tonight with be damaging winds (60-80 mph) and large hail (2"+).
Timing: A line of storms will begin to fire shortly after 3 p.m. in Western Illinois and continue to push eastward. Instability ahead of the line will continue to build, allowing for the storms to grow.
Storms could cross Illinois/Indiana state lines as early as 5 p.m.
The main line is expected to get into Indianapolis around 6 p.m. and should exit the state by 10 p.m.
Humidity will fall and skies will brighten as we head into the weekend.
