Travel ball coach accused of sleeping with teenager, court docs reveal

GASTON, Ind. - A travel ball coach is accused of sleeping with an underage teenager.
Nicholas Harrold, 45, of Gaston was arrested on Monday on a preliminary count of child seduction, a Level 5 felony.
According to court documents, the Delaware County Sheriff's Department was first notified about the alleged child seduction on Aug. 12. Deputies were shown text messages that allegedly revealed an "intimate relationship" between Harrold and a victim who was 16 to 17 years old.
According to the documents, Harrold is accused of groping, kissing and having sex with the victim in January. Police said Harrold was in a position of power over the victim.
Investigators confronted Harrold on Monday and he agreed to speak with police.
During the interview, Harrold confirmed that he was a travel ball coach for teenagers, along with coaching at Anderson University. Harrold described his relationship with the victim as "really good/close," but claimed the relationship was professional and not intimate.
Harrold ended the interview by requesting a lawyer.
Charges against Harrold have not been officially filed at the time of publication. The Delaware County Prosecutor's Office makes final charging decisions.
If convicted of a Level 5 felony, Harrold faces up to six years in prison.
