
MONROE COUNTY, Ind. - A tree fell on a person in Monroe County during a severe storm early Sunday morning.
According to the Monroe Fire Protection District, around 12:30 a.m., first responders were dispatched to the Hardin Ridge Campground on reports of a tree falling on a person and pinning them underneath.
Once first responders arrived, they were flagged down by the campground staff, who led them to the injured person.
The person remained alert and communicated throughout the rescue. Medical personnel stabilized the person while fire and law enforcement and bystanders cut away sections of the tree to free the patient's leg.
They were then taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
While this was happening, calls were being made about the Fourwinds Marina on reports of multiple boats and docks breaking away due to high winds.
Once firefighters arrived, they found walkways damaged and docks displaced. No injuries were reported. Several trees fell around the property and destroyed an event tent.
