Turning active and warmer for March's last days

Wednesday marks the seventh-straight day with a high under 60° in Indianapolis. That stretch will likely go at least one more day. Thank cooler, northwest flow returning overhead is responsible for that. That jet stream is splitting things and separating the winter and real spring warmth.

With that cooler flow, widely scattered showers continue mainly in North Central Indiana. Much cloudier up in Muncie compared to spots south of #Indy like Greenwood. This activity will be around through sunset and will remain light. Our newest camera on the roof of the newly-renovated Cooper Science Complex on Ball State's campus caught that action occurring.

Temperatures will slowly rebound getting into the weekend. Rain chances also return to the forecast starting Thursday. Some patchy activity is likely in the morning and early afternoon but dry hours are promised. More numerous showers are likely overnight to early Friday morning thanks to an approaching warm front. That same boundary will make things much warmer and windier with highs in the mid-70s Friday.

The weekend will not be a complete washout with dry hours promised on Saturday. Mostly cloudy, breezy and continued mild Saturday daytime with highs around 70° with showers developing late. Sunday also calls for showers and storms, some of which could pack a punch in the afternoon and evening.

That storm threat will come ahead of a cold front which will pass through late Sunday into Monday morning. The workweek opens windy and much cooler with a few showers early. Highs will be around Midnight with afternoon highs in the upper 40s. Overall, cooler flow is in store for April's opening days. Highs in the 50s Tuesday for the Indianapolis Indians opener with more showers on Wednesday.
