Tyrese Haliburton injury: Pacers star to have surgery in New York for torn Achilles

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indiana point guard Tyrese Haliburton is set to undergo surgery Monday night to treat his right Achilles tendon injury.

According to an Indiana Pacers news release, Haliburton is set to have surgery with Dr. Martin O'Malley at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. He went down with the injury during the first quarter of Game 7 of the NBA Finals Sunday night.

He was seen receiving assistance from teammates and Pacers staff after suffering the injury. Haliburton did not return to the game as the Pacers went on to lose 103-91 as the Oklahoma City Thunder closed the series to become NBA champions. Before his game-changing injury, Haliburton had recorded nine points in seven minutes.

The Indiana Pacers added that updates on Haliburton's post-surgery status would be provided at a later time.
