Video: Suspect wielding sword steals police car in southern Indiana

OWENSBORO, Ky (WEHT) - A video obtained by Eyewitness News shows the start of a police chase where a suspect stole a marked police vehicle.




In the video, which can be viewed above, the suspect can be seen wearing a helmet and chasing a police officer with what appears to be a sword. The suspect then steals the officer's vehicle.




According to authorities, the chase started in Chandler before crossing state lines and ending in Owensboro, Kentucky. Officials state the suspect is now in custody.




Eyewitness News was told the suspect has been taken to an area hospital after reportedly suffering from a gunshot wound.




The chase began around 9:30 a.m. and ended in Daviess County, Kentucky, after a Rockport City police officer stopped the suspect in a field.




Officials also say a brief foot chase happened and an electronic stun gun was used.
