Sunday will EXTEND our late-season 80° streak to 10 consecutive days. It's the longest such streak this late in the season since records started being kept in 1871. On average, October sees three 80° days. This streak will go through today and likely tomorrow.
With the dry ground and a dry airmass in place, fire danger is elevated today. Breezy conditions add to the risk. Counties shaded in red are under burn bans. Use extreme caution with any outdoor burning! You can see the updated map here.
Who's looking for fall weather? If so, Thursday and Friday are for you! Thanks to the approaching cold front, temperatures closer to/just below normal are in store for those days and those days ONLY. We'll begin to quickly warm by next weekend.
That same cold front will come with needed rain chances for central Indiana. The highest coverage will be late Monday and through the day Tuesday. Some heavier storms could give a few spots up to an inch of rainfall potential. This won't be a drought-busting rain but will hopefully put a small dent in it.

After the cold front passes, we'll have two days of cooler high temperatures that are more typical of this time of year. By next weekend, we'll be under a new dry and sunny streak with warmer temperatures starting once again. More days in the upper 70s are in store.
