DANVILLE, Ind. -- A color walk in Danville later this month will raise awareness of the importance of mental health.

The second annual Warriors Walking for Hope Color Walk will take place on Sept. 21 at Ellis Park, located at 600 E Main St. in Danville. Registration for the event begins at 12:30 p.m. and the walk is scheduled from 2-3 p.m.

According to a news release, this "vibrant, non-competitive community event" will give attendees the chance to "join the fight against suicide and help raise mental healht awareness in Hendricks County." The event will include:

  • Live performance by Levi Riggs

  • Color Walk

  • Launch of the new Hope Suicide Prevention mobile application available for all Hendricks County residents.

  • Dedication of a new Memorial Tree

"It's a day of connection, awareness and support for those impacted by mental health struggles," the release said.

Funds raised during the event will fund Hope Squads in the Danville Community School Corporation. These groups are peer-to-peer support programs that are proven to reduce suicide through early intervention and peer support.
