WATCH: Security camera video shows attempted ATM theft at west side business

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis metro police are investigating an attempted burglary that recently took place at a dry cleaner business on Indy's west side.




According to a public police report filed by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, detectives are investigating an attempted burglary that was reported at Fabric Care Center, a business located at 5760 W. Morris Street. The business offers dry cleaning services and also functions as a late-night laundromat.




The police report details that the incident left the business owner with a reported $20,000 in damages. This includes an estimated $3,000 in damages to one of the business's washers and another $2,000 after the alleged suspects unsuccessfully attempted to steal an ATM.




On Thursday night, FOX59/CBS4 obtained surveillance footage of the attempted burglary. Two different hooded suspects can be seen ramming the back of their vehicle into a sliding glass door at the entrance to the business.




After they manage to break through the sliding door with what police believe was possibly a maroon or burgundy Kia SUV, one of the alleged suspects proceeds to attach a hook connected to the back of the vehicle to an ATM located inside the business. The other suspect inside the vehicle then accelerated in an attempt to pry the ATM loose.

The footage shows the suspects making multiple efforts to escape with the ATM. During these attempts, the suspect operating the vehicle repeatedly backed into the storefront, damaging a washer and their vehicle in the process. These efforts ultimately proved unsuccessful as the footage concludes with the two suspects driving away from the empty parking lot.
