Woman arrested in connection with 2021 double murder

INDIANAPOLIS - Police arrested a suspect in a deadly double shooting that went unsolved for more than four years.

Indianapolis Metropolitan police took 25-year-old Tadijah Davis into custody on Tuesday in connection with the deaths of 21-year-old Ashanti Robinson and 23-year-old Patrice Jones.

On March 1, 2021, officers were dispatched to a reported shooting in the 4000 block of N. Cordell Street where they found the victims. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The women suffered gunshot wounds to the body, head and face, according to court documents. Autopsies found they died from multiple gunshots. Their deaths were ruled homicides.

Court documents revealed that investigators linked Davis to the shooting through a rented SUV seen on surveillance footage and a fingerprint discovered on a discarded paper bag found later at the scene.

Police suspected her involvement as early as May 2021 after they reportedly matched the fingerprint. Due to inconsistent statements and a lack of evidence, prosecutors were unable to charge her at that time.

Two other people were involved in the shooting, according to court documents, and Davis attempted to hide their identities. Investigators believe Davis knew one of the victims (Robinson) and was communicating with her before the shooting.

In February 2025, the case was transferred to the IMPD Unsolved Homicide Unit. A detective took a new look at the case, which involved reviewing evidence seized from Davis' phone, previous interviews and surveillance video.

Surveillance video showed Davis was the driver of an SUV that dropped off two people who lay in wait for the victims and then picked up the suspected shooters before leaving the scene, according to court documents.

Davis lied about her relationship with the shooters and also lied about the last time she'd communicated with Robinson. Photos and other evidence on her phone disproved her statements, according to court documents.

Davis also provided investigators with multiple versions of what happened on the night of the shooting, police said.

A gun used in the shooting was also tracked to other incidents, including a drive-by shooting and an armed robbery involving one of the suspected shooters, according to the affidavit.

Davis is charged with two counts of murder. Court records showed an initial hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
