INDIANAPOLIS -- A 22-year-old woman was located after being reported missing in the water Thursday evening.
In an X post, the Indianapolis Fire Department in assistance with Pike Township Fire Department, Wayne Township Fire Department and the Department of Natural Resources, conducted a search in the Eagle Creek Reservoir near Rick's Boatyard Cafe around 5:05 p.m. A caller told IFD that a woman dove into the water from a sailboat and did not resurface.
IFD, Pike, and Wayne Township dive teams spent several hours searching the area where the sailboat occupant was reported missing. All four agencies deployed boats in the water that used sonar to help with the search along with a drone, but the agencies were unsuccessful in finding the woman.
The effort to find the woman was terminated at 7:11 p.m. and the incident was turned over to DNR.
DNR continued sonar operations for several more hours and located the missing woman around 10:18 p.m. Officials didn't say where the woman was found or disclose her condition.
