INDIANAPOLIS - An investigation is underway after a woman was shot outside a liquor store on Indy's northwest side Saturday morning.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, just before 3 a.m., officers were called to Jack's Liquors in the 5500 block of Georgetown Road on the report of a person shot.
When officers arrived on scene, they located an adult female just outside the liquor store with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. She was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, but died a short time later, police said.
Officers quickly located a suspect and took them into custody there at the store, police said. Investigators also located the alleged weapon used in the incident and numerous shell casings.
Investigators said the woman and the suspect arrived at the store together, but they are still working to determine if they knew each other.
The incident remains under investigation.
This is a developing story. It will be updated when new information has been made available.
