B.E.S.T. 28 Lovett 42
Despite 261 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns from standout Deshawn Waller, the Eagles were unable to walk away from Lovett with a win Friday night. Lovett came in ranked #4 in the state with B.E.S.T. ranked #7, making this a juggernaut battle of top ten teams. In the end, the depth of Lovett allowed them to pull away in the second half. Junior Robert Tucker contributed the other td on pass from Nakia Davis. The schedule doesn't let up any time soon for the Eagles as they take on top ranked Greater Atlanta Christian at Lakewwod Friday in the Atlanta Football Insider Game of the Week.
Carver 34 M.L. King 26
In the 2014 Domecoming opener, Carver held off a late charge from the M.L. King Lions 34-26 on Saturday. Running baks Gregory Payton and Timsonte Dukes both scored rushing touchdowns as the Panthers jumped out to an early lead. M.L. King rallied furiously in the second half scoring their last touchdown with just a mere 3 seconds left on the clock. The win pushed Carver's win streak to 4 following their week 0 loss to Carver Columbus.
Douglass 7 Cedar Grove 35
Douglass fell hard on Friday at Lakewood to Cedar Grove 35-7. The Atros will look to rebound next week against Blessed Trinity.
Grady 23 Lithonia 17
After a late arrival to the game due to the intense traffic of Music Midtown, the Grey Knights of Grady defeated Lithonia on friday at Panthersville. The win pushed Grady to 3-1 with their only loss coming in a 4 point contest to Carver. Grady looks to extend their winning streak to 3 next week against St. Pius on Saturday.
Jackson 0 Blessed Trinity 42
The Jackson Jaguars ran into a buzz saw on friday as they dropped to 2-2 on the season after a loss to Blessed Trinity 42-0. Jackson will look to get back tom their high powered winning ways next week on the road at Cedar Grove.
Mays 27 Southwest Dekalb 8
Behind a stout defense and a 60 yard pick six interception return by Streetz 94.5 player of the Game Ferlando Jordan, Mays defeated Southwest Dekalb 27-8 in the Atlanta Football Insider Game of the week on Saturday at the Georgia Dome. Senior standout, and Georgia commit, Natrez Patrick contributed 3 sacks in a excellent performance by the defense. Charlie Patrick led the balanced rushing attack with 62 yards on the ground and an early touchdown to put Mays up 7-0. Mays now looks to their next game on Saturday vs Lovejoy at Lakewood.
North Atlanta 0 Riverwood 55
The North Atlanta Warriors had a tough time on the road friday night falling to Rivwerwood 55-0. Turnovers spelled the demise fro North Atlanta as they threw and interception, lost 3 fumbles and had a punt blocked in the loss. On the defensive side of the ball the Warriors gave up 7 touchdowns rushing. The Warriors will look to rebound on friday at Grady stadium against Sprayberry.
Therrell 33 South Atlanta 20
Therrell's defensive explosion in the second half blew open a game that was a back and forth close battle up to halftime. Ty Collins started the defensive momentum paring an interception with a fumble recovery. By the time Dexter Brown blocked a punt and scooped and scored the game was pretty much out of reach. Chauncey Payne finished off the scoring with his second rushing touchdown to push the score to the final 33-20. South Atlanta plays Towers next week, while Therrell will travel to Westminster.
Washington 28 McNair 6
Washington closed out this year's Domecoming sweep for APS schools over Dekalb with a 28-6 win on Saturday night. The win was the first for Washington, losing the first 3 by a combined 11 points. Th Bulldogs look to keep the momentum going next week as they take on Decatur on Friday.
