Blackmore's Night Cancels Remaining 2025 Tour Dates Citing Medical Reasons

Blackmore's Night, the band led by former Deep Purple and Rainbow guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, has canceled all remaining 2025 tour dates due to unspecified medical reasons.

The announcement was made Tuesday on the band's official Facebook page. "All Blackmore's Night shows postponed at this point due to medical reasons. We are sorry for any inconvenience," the statement read.

The specific medical issue and the band member or members affected have not been disclosed.

Blackmore's Night is known for its medieval-themed folk music, a departure from Blackmore's earlier work in hard rock. The group had performed only two of its six scheduled tour dates: Nov. 9 in Alexandria, Virginia, and Nov. 13 in Lititz, Pennsylvania.

During the Alexandria concert, Blackmore performed a cover of "Child in Time," a song from Deep Purple's 1970 album "Deep Purple in Rock." "We've never done that before, and we're never doing it again," Blackmore told the audience after the performance.

The Nov. 15 show in Newtown, New Jersey, was postponed the day it was scheduled, and a few days later, the Nov. 20 date in Wilmington, Delaware, was also canceled.

With the latest announcement, the final two dates of the tour - Nov. 23 in Cohoes, New York, and Nov. 29 in Tarrytown, New York - have also been postponed.

Earlier this year, Blackmore's wife and bandmate, Candice Night, revealed that he suffered a heart attack in 2023, which temporarily put his career on hold. In an interview with Total Rock, Night said Blackmore had been advised by his cardiologist not to fly and now has six stents. "I can't believe he's going to be 80. He doesn't look it, still doesn't act it. But eventually medical things catch up with you," she said.
