Nikki Sixx Defends Vince Neil's Live Performances, Addresses Calls for Mick Mars' Return
Nikki Sixx is defending Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil after a fan criticized Neil's recent live performances.
Earlier this week, Mötley Crüe announced a summer 2026 tour, with Tesla and Extreme set to provide support. In response to the announcement, a fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, "Vince needs to get in shape and fix his voice first." Sixx replied, "Did you hear him in Vegas? He sounded solid and bad ass."
Sixx was referring to the band's recently concluded Las Vegas residency, which marked Neil's first performances since suffering multiple strokes in late December.
During the residency, Neil told radio host Eddie Trunk that he was "95 percent good," but acknowledged there was still progress to be made. "There's things that I can't do on stage still. It's hard to run back and forth on that stage," Neil said in September. "That stage is so huge. But I'm getting used to it."
Sixx also responded to a fan who called for the return of founding guitarist Mick Mars. Mars retired from touring in 2022 due to his ongoing battle with ankylosing spondylitis, and was replaced by guitarist John 5.
"Remember, Mick retired because his health couldn't handle life on the road," Sixx wrote. "We all understand that, so why would you want to put him through it again?"
When another fan commented, "Farewell Tour Pt 3," Sixx replied, "Keepum Coming."
