Homicide Investigation Update

Last night, at 8:50 p.m., the Indian River County Sheriffs Office received a 911 call about a shooting in the area of 3100 43rd Street, Vero Beach, FL.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found 24-year-old Robert Trusty III unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound. Trusty was transported to the Cleveland Clinic of Indian River County, where he was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

All available resources, including patrol deputies, detectives, the crime scene unit, our helicopter HAWK, and the Real-Time Crime Center, worked throughout the night and into the early morning hours, following every available lead.

Detectives have identified several persons of interest who may have been involved in this incident. Sheriff Eric Flowers stated, We are committed to solving this murder and are hopeful that residents in the Gifford community will continue to come forward with information.
