1) Ike Midas, tell the people what Midwest city your representing for?
My name is Ike Midas I'm here representing for Cedar Rapids Iowa.
2) When did you start professionally become a Hip Hop artist?
I'd say I started to take my career seriously in 2013 when I decided I wanted to do something productive with my life that people could be proud of and my family could grow from.
3) I originally saw you at an Iowa Summer jam concert, how important are events like this for the Iowa ? Yea that was a good year! I think events like summer jam are super important because it give you the opportunity to show your talents to a wider range of artist in our state. It also gives us the chance to make connections that we may not have had access to without coming together. And it gets better every year!
4) Your single "Gimme My Ring" has created a lot of buzz for you and Tone Da Boss. For those who don't know tell the people what professional sport teams has used the record on their social media?
Sooo. Give Me My Ring started off as a submission song for NBA2K but they turned it down. Shortly after we get a call saying the Chicago Sky won the WNBA Championship and they used our song as their background music for their commercial. That was crazy to me being an artist from Iowa. I couldn't have even imagined. But the NBA had a bigger plan as well because the Golden State Warriors happen to win the Championship as well and they decided to run with it as well. That was beyond mind blowing to see my favorite team and player singing along to our song as they celebrated a national championship season once again. They did a parade and made a video using Give Me My Ring and shortly after it was all over social media. We are both greatful of both teams and forever will be.
5) How did "Gimme My Ring" come about? What was going on in the studio?
The song came about for the NBA2K game that was about to release. Chuck mentioned it to me one day in the studio while I was there to record another song with Tone and said it was worth trying to get placement on the video game so we just threw the beat in and started throwing bars around. It didn't take long to come up with the hook and from there we both took flight. Now it's a Championship anthem lol.
6) You and Tone Da Boss just dropped the duo EP. Champions, tell us about it
Champions is our way of bringing straight winning anthems. Each song has a unique style of a champion. Every song is ment to motivate and push the listener to feeling like a Champion. It's our first album with no swear words at all and no derogatory statements. We felt we needed to show our versatility and uniqueness. We also dropped a couple videos to support what we bringing. The first is "Celebration" shot by Key Frames the next is "To The Maxxx" shot by Azonte. Both videos are unique in their own way and show us being bigger then life in its own way.
