Peace family! Recently I just celebrated my bday and normally I don't do anything to celebrate. The most I'll do is go visit my parents and celebrate with them. But this year I decided to actually do something for my bday, so I booked a flight and made my way to Tampa which ended up being a very dope solo trip.
First stop in Tampa was Busch Gardens, the best time to go to any amusement park is on a random ass Tuesday morning or any day between Mon-Thurs. Everybody is at work and school so you don't have to worry about long waiting times to get on the roller coasters. The best ride hands down was the Sheikra, it takes you 200 feet up in the air where you can literally see all of Tampa. Before it takes you down the first drop it stops for a few seconds right before the drop then let's you go straight down at a 90 degree angle at 70 mph. MAAAAAAAN that ride was FIRE! It had 2 drops at a 90 degree angle. Other rides to definitely check out are Cheetah Hunt, had to wait 40 mins to get on it but it was worth it. Montu was cool and Kumba rounds out my list of roller coasters to check out at Busch Gardens. Another thing I loved about the park was the healthy food options they have, once I saw the Impossible Burger on the menu I didn't hesitate to order. Overall I would come back to Busch Gardens but I'm taking advantage of their sale, Tickets were $109 for general admission.
While in Tampa I was a live studio guest on a dope podcast called Brown Liquor Fridays/On Da Porch with my good friend from VSU Melody and her BFF Britt. There was another special guest Davy from Orlando & The Freakshow on the local radio station Wild 94.1, and it was a dope episode. We covered a variety of topics from abortion laws, 2020 election, entrepreneurship, to Chipotle vs. Moe's. I made history on the show as the first person to get kicked off the porch lol, check out the episode it's on Souncloud, Itunes, and other platforms. Their IG is brownliquorfridays, smash that follow button too.
This trip I decided to challenge myself to eat better while away from home, I'm already stepping out of my comfort zone by taking a solo trip so why not. So I ended up at this spot called Farmacy in downtown Tampa and they serve a plant based Philly cheese steak. Now before you pass judgement, do not knock it until you try it. It was so good it made a non-vegan consider adding it to her diet. The mac & cheese was good too, not extra cheesy and it had a spicy kick to it. Check out their IG @farmacyvegankitchen.
Don't sleep on Tampa, I know some may overlook it and book trips to Miami and Orlando but Tampa is a dope city. It has more than 1 amusement park, a dope aquarium downtown, a zoo (which I'm upset I didn't make it there), and dope scenery. There's something for everybody all ages, whether you're single, married, or have a family. Tampa is nice getaway, and yes it gets hot but I love that type of weather so it didn't really bother me. Thank you to Melody and her parents for the hospitality, the fish and hush puppies were really good and I may still be drunk off that rum cake. Next trip will be Atlantic City in August for the DJ Expo. Love.
