At a recent show, Lil Uzi Vert revealed that he believed the late XXXTentacion to be his only competition." In a rough video uploaded online, Uzi is standing onstage shirtless as he tells the crowd before him, "Out of all n*ggas, he is my only competition and I'm talking about XXX," with his words being met with a sea of cheers.
"I had to go pay my respects," he continued in reference to memorial service held for XXX in Florida on Wednesday, June 27th, with one user pointing out that Uzi allegedly still had on the wristband needed for entrance at the service.
Uzi continues: "And I'm going to my respects right now," before XXXTentacion's breakout "Look At Me!" single played over the speakers. Naturally, the crowd went crazy.
Recently, Uzi spoke out about his efforts to start a foundation in order to help the slain rapper's family, ensuring that "his child and family are well taken care of not just temporary but for life."
"I don't care if you didn't know him he is part of the hip hop / rock community I NEED HELP from celebrities Please," he wrote on Twitter. "Trust me this fund/foundation will be for all young entertainers and young men and women that die from gun violence etc. Think about your families [sic] future I know I am... We can buy chains and watches and cars WE ALSO CAN DONATE AND GIVE AND SUPPORT."
Uzi is so set on the act that when K Camp prompted him with a proposal for a feature, the Philly-born rapper said he'd hop on a track in exchange for a donation.
His call to action was also met with responses from various contemporaries, including KYLE, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Ski Mask The Slump God, Lil Pump, Ugly God, and Nicki Minaj.
