Ariana Grande Explores New Themes with Upcoming Album

Ariana Grande says her new album, "Petal," explores topics she has not addressed before.

In a video posted Thursday on Instagram, Grande described the project as "a little feral." Speaking to her team, she said, "It's definitely from a place I've been maybe too shy or polite to tap into before." She added, "This kind of just feels like, 'F--- it.'"

Grande announced "Petal" at the end of April. At the time, she called it "something that is full of life," and said the songs are about "growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging." The album follows her 2024 project, "Eternal Sunshine," which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

In the Instagram video, Grande explained that the album focuses on breaking negative attachments, including her own thoughts, outside voices, and things "that no longer serve me." She said listeners may interpret the songs in their own ways.

"Petal" is scheduled for release on July 31.

Before the album arrives, Grande will launch her Eternal Sunshine Tour on June 6. The tour, her first in seven years, will span North America and finish with 10 shows at the O2 Arena in London.
