Hot Hits Weekend Best Bets - 5/8-5/10/26

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Central Ohio is set for a busy spring weekend from May 8 through May 10, with festivals, live music, sports and Mother's Day events drawing residents and visitors across the region.

The weekend's calendar includes outdoor entertainment, concerts, arts programming and sporting events as warmer temperatures continue to bring larger crowds to downtown Columbus and surrounding communities.

One of the area's featured attractions this weekend is May Hops on High in the Short North Arts District, where portions of High Street will again close to vehicle traffic for an open-street festival atmosphere featuring vendors, food trucks, live entertainment and local businesses. Organizers say the monthly event has become one of the city's most popular seasonal gatherings.

Sports fans can also find a full slate of action around the city. Ohio State baseball hosts Michigan State on Friday at Huntington Park, while youth volleyball tournaments and amateur competitions continue throughout the weekend at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

Live music venues across Columbus are also featuring packed lineups heading into the weekend. Performances are scheduled at venues including The Summit Music Hall, Rumba Caf and Dick's Den, with genres ranging from rock and indie music to jazz and bluegrass. Regional concert schedules compiled by WOSU's "Bluegrass Ramble" indicate numerous performances planned throughout Central Ohio during the weekend.

Downtown entertainment districts are also expected to see increased foot traffic as spring events ramp up. The Scioto Mile and surrounding downtown areas continue preparing for a larger summer festival season that will include Jazz & Rib Fest and other outdoor events later this month and into the summer.

Families looking for Mother's Day activities on Sunday will find brunches, park events and shopping opportunities throughout the region. Local tourism officials say seasonal markets and community events are helping drive stronger attendance in entertainment districts throughout May.

Additional weekend activities and nightlife events are scheduled throughout the Arena District and downtown Columbus, including gatherings near Nationwide Arena and other entertainment venues. Organizers encourage attendees to check venue websites and event pages for updated schedules, ticket information and weather-related changes.
