Taylor Swift Named Worlds Top Selling Artist for 2025 with Record Breaking Sixth Win

Taylor Swift has been named the world's biggest-selling recording artist of 2025, topping the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's (IFPI) annual Global Artist Chart.
This marks the sixth time Swift has earned the distinction, with previous wins in 2014, 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2024. She is the first artist to top the chart for four consecutive years. BTS last surpassed Swift in 2020 and 2021.
The IFPI, which represents the global recorded music industry, compiles its annual chart using streaming, downloads, and physical sales data from more than 8,000 participating record labels worldwide. The chart reflects artists' total consumption across all releases, not just new material from the calendar year.
In 2025, Swift led a top 20 that included Stray Kids, Drake, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter and Billie Eilish.
Swift released her 12th studio album, "The Life of a Showgirl," in October 2025. The album spent 12 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and its opening week set a new record for album-equivalent units with 4.002 million, surpassing Adele's "25" (2015), which earned 3.482 million units in its debut. The album produced the No. 1 Hot 100 single "The Fate of Ophelia," which topped the chart for 10 weeks. All 12 tracks from the album entered the top 12 positions on the Hot 100, a first in chart history.
Tyler, the Creator achieved his first appearance in the IFPI top 20 at No. 12, following the release of his 2024 LP "Chromakopia" and surprise album "Don't Tap the Glass." Japanese rock band Mrs. Green Apple debuted on the chart at No. 13.
Several artists returned to the chart after successful 2025 releases and tours, including Lady Gaga (No. 10), Ed Sheeran (No. 18), SZA (No. 19) and Justin Bieber (No. 20).
The IFPI will release its Global Single Chart and Global Albums Chart later this week.
