COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A mix of live entertainment, sports, arts and family-friendly programming is set to fill the calendar across Columbus and Central Ohio for the weekend of March 20-22, offering residents and visitors a wide range of options as spring begins to take hold.

One of the weekend's largest draws is the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament, with first- and second-round games hosted at the Schottenstein Center. The games bring national attention to Columbus as teams compete for advancement in March Madness, adding to a busy sports calendar in the region.

Music fans will find multiple live performances across the city Friday night. Indie rock band This Day Forever is scheduled to perform at The King of Clubs, while hip-hop artist Mandrake is set to take the stage at Mandrake Rooftop. Both shows highlight Columbus' active local and touring music scene.

In the performing arts, Broadway productions and stage shows anchor the weekend lineup. "The Outsiders," a touring production, continues its run at the Ohio Theatre with multiple showtimes through Sunday. Meanwhile, "Miss Saigon" is scheduled at the Short North Stage's Garden Theater, offering audiences another high-profile theatrical option.

Jazz enthusiasts can attend "Hotter Than That," a Columbus Jazz Orchestra performance running throughout the weekend. The production celebrates women in jazz and features acclaimed performers in a program highlighting the genre's legacy and evolution.

For families, Nationwide Arena hosts "Disney On Ice: Mickey's Search Party," an ice-skating spectacle featuring characters from popular Disney films, combining acrobatics, music and storytelling aimed at younger audiences.

Outdoor and specialty events are also part of the weekend slate. The Ohio Open Season Sportsman's Expo runs Friday through Sunday at the Ohio Expo Center, featuring demonstrations, seminars and exhibits focused on hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation.

Additional community programming includes youth-focused activities such as "Family Adventures," designed to engage children and caregivers in interactive learning experiences.

Event organizers note that schedules and availability may change, and attendees are encouraged to confirm details with venues in advance.

With major sporting events, national touring productions and local performances converging, Columbus continues to position itself as a regional hub for entertainment and cultural activity heading into the spring season.
